Our research
Creativity and wellbeing can be hard to measure. At Into the Now, we’re committed to providing qualitative and quantitative outcomes.
Measurable results help us share success with our partners and, even more crucially, reach more students who need us.
Method
Before, during and after our courses, we collect wellbeing questionnaires, as well as recording students’ feedback and tangible achievements connected to the course, like re-entering employment.
We also work closely with out referral partners, who often know our students well. They can tell us about positive changes they have noted and what aspects of the course they observe as having the most impact.
Privacy is crucial and we maintain the highest confidentiality standards, anonymising profiles and keeping data secure.
Results
We’re very excited by the results our programme has produced to date.
“All have grown in confidence in some way.” – Referral Partner
Previously isolated students have made new connections and friends.
Students report increased self confidence and self esteem.
Many students have found their course led to further activities and engagement, for example one student started their own choir.
Feedback from our referral partners
“Many young people were nervous coming to the project, yet towards the end many of them were vocalists, they were able to film music videos and even star in them and put their artwork into it. I didn’t expect it to be like this at all. I didn’t expect them to grow in confidence like this” – BeYou Co-ordinator
In students’ own words
Where students are keen to share their experiences and talk about ‘the making of’ their projects, we again encourage this in a safe way, working with our podcast or videocast partners to document their experiences.
BeYou Youth Class

With thanks to our partners at Canterbury Christ Church University, who are helping us develop our findings into an academic paper which we’ll publish here.
